Our Founder

Dr. SPS Grewal, a renowned ophthalmologist with over four decades of experience, founded Grewal Eye Institute (GEI) in Chandigarh in 1993, driven by a vision to revolutionize eye care in India. Today, GEI stands out for its cutting-edge technologies and personalized patient care, a testament to Dr. Grewal’s dedication. With a track record of 80,000 successful eye surgeries, focusing on advanced cataract and refractive procedures, Dr. Grewal has garnered recognition from prestigious institutions like the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Under his leadership, GEI has evolved into a leading hub for medical education, forming affiliations with renowned U.S. universities and attracting medical residents for top-tier opthalmic training.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. SPS Grewal is a multifaceted individual, with passions for photography, cycling, and hiking, embodying a dynamic lifestyle. His commitment to community service is evident through GEI’s initiatives, such as free surgeries for the underprivileged and extensive eye camps. Internationally, Dr. Grewal’s contributions to global eye health are notable, including his involvement with the Rotary International Medicare Team, where he has conducted free cataract surgeries across 12 African countries, highlighting his commitment to improving eye health on a global scale.
